The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water & YEP Agrofood, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the Water & Agrofood sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform.

Young Expert at Vitens Evides International - Uganda

YEP period 2014 - 2016, batch 2

YEP Role

During YEP I was the project manager for Vitens Evides International in Northern Uganda. For this project we wanted to enhance water asset management in ten towns around the Northern region. Click here for more information about my project.



I have participated in several intercultural exchange programs around the world. Therefore I am good in intercultural communication. I like to work in groups, motivate others and create new opportunities together.



Nationality: Dutch
Education: I have an academical background in International Development Studies at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Within this Master of Science I included a minor in International Land and Water Management. During my studies I did an internship about peri-urban water management at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, an Erasmus exchanges in Lille France and a thesis research about project development and social struggle around the Melamchi Water Supply Project in Nepal.


Experience before YEP

I have done a 3 year multi company traineeship in cilvi engineering within the Netherlands. Here I worked at the department of Asset Management at Vitens Drinking Water company, as an assistant project manager of waste water projects at the municipality of Gouda and as junior consultant in international cooperation at Waterboard Zuiderzeeland.
