YEP Role

As a Young Expert within the WaterWorX (WWX) project, I am responsible for the Non-Revenue Water (NRW) tasks focusing on Zomba Scheme. These tasks entail:

• Designing of DMAs
  • working together with the GIS department to ensure DMAs are captured in GIS;
• Physical implementation of the DMAs
  • doing pressure measurements to ensure isolation
  • working together with the GIS responsible person to ensure that boundary valves and bulk meters are captured in GIS;
• Setting up the water balances of the DMAs
  • establishing commercial NRW and physical NRW through doing 24-hour minimum night flow measurements;
• Setting up an action plan to tackle NRW per DMA in close cooperation with the commercial NRW personnel and ensure implementation of the same;

Experience before YEP

Water supply engineer for Southern Region Water Board, Zomba. Responsible for all the daily operational activities for Zomba. These activities include overseeing water production, treatment and smooth distribution to all customers within the supply area always. In addition, ensuring all maintenance works are carried out in good time as well as planning for all network expansion exercises.
