YEP Role

Supported IWRAP Programme-Lake Naivasha Basinin the following ways:

  1. Transfer of fundamental Hydroinformatics knowledge required by the staff in WRMA and IMARISHA by executing activities that were required for the migration and implementation of the new water information system
  2. Orchestrated and managed the various workflows that have been designed to structure, edit, clean and upload legacy data to the newly deployed databases and generate new products and services
  3. Assisted in implementation and local staff training of the GEONETCast receiving station and further develop the hydrological models driven by telemetric and satellite data

Education: Msc (Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Water Resources and Environmental Management) from ITC/University of Twente- The Netherlands. BSc (Water Engineering) from Kenyatta University - Kenya

 

Experience before YEP

Lecturer - Kenya Water Institute: Kitui
Responsibilities: Taught water related technical courses including Surveying, Water Quality, Remote Sensing, Irrigation and Drainage, Water Supply, among others. I was actively involved in setting exams, modulating, marking and awarding marks. I was actively involved in organizing and facilitating fieldwork and excursions for students to various organizations in the efforts of encouraging networking and orientation to the professional world. I acted as patron to the environment club. Acted as the organizing secretary to the staffs’ welfare

Volunteer- Wamoro Irrigation Water Users Association: Kiambu, Kenya
Responsibilities: Proposal writing, taking minutes and custody of the CBO’s documents, technical work (including water pump maintenance and operations, Greenhouse designing and establishment, pipework, e.t.c.), and procurement and budget control.

Internship experience
Water Engineering Attaché –Technical Department: Oloolaiser Water and Sewerage Company, Kiserian, Kajiado County.
Responsibilities: Pipework design and layout, supervising casual technical activities, Surveying, Water Laboratory work, Maintenance of the water treatment system, Daily river gauge measurement and monitoring.
