Young Expert at The Hunger Project - Bangladesh
YEP period 2021 - 2023, batch 24

YEP Role

I work as Program Officer (Communication-LG & GG) at the Hunger Project, Bangladesh. I contribute to ensuring the entire advocacy and communication-related tasks of THP BD. I work as the Coordinator of Local Government and Good Governance Unit of the Hunger Project Bangladesh. I also contribute to project management, report writing/documentation, and coordinating the program in the nationwide work of SHUJAN. We indirectly contribute to progress being made in the Water/Agrofood sectors in Bangladesh, by ensuring accountability and transparency of the government and other entities who work on these sectors through successful advocacy activities. I get the opportunity to manage the current advocacy programs of THP Bangladesh, as well as contribute to SDG 2 related interventions that are needed in the different work areas in Bangladesh.

In my YEP role, I will be contributing to The Hunger Project Bangladesh’s community mobilization and capacity-building intervention known as the “SDG Union Strategy”. THP has been demonstrating the working of this innovative model in 186 Unions (smallest rural administrative and local government unit in BD) as a low-cost and sustainable means of achieving SDGs. The work of creating an SDG Union begins by transforming the mindset and creating a vision. The SDG Union Strategy calls for commitment through a partnership between different social units. They include elected representatives at the local level, the Union Parishad, mobilized animators, women leaders, and youth leaders who are brought together by a shared vision to achieve the SDGs at the Union level.
