Young Expert at Wilde Ganzen Foundation - Uganda
YEP period 2021 - 2022, batch 23

YEP Role

Project Officer Uganda – Wilde Ganzen

On behalf of Wilde Ganzen Foundation and in cooperation with Kulika Uganda I will conduct research on community-based development related to food security in Uganda, to gain more insight into how and to what degree civil society organizations could be supported by (foreign) donors to develop organizational capacities to facilitate and support food security through a participatory approach.

Food insecurity and poverty are inextricably linked. In the context of sustainable poverty reduction, Wilde Ganzen addresses the importance of local ownership: If local communities are empowered to set their own priorities, they become agents of change.

Main tasks:

  • As a project officer, I will be a ‘sparring partner’ for Private Development Initiatives and their Local Partner Organisations on participatory approaches while implementing small-scale development projects in Uganda.
  • As a policy officer, I am responsible for the (development of) ‘Food security’ policy of Wilde Ganzen.
  • Collecting best practices through field visits and multi-stakeholder meetings.
