History: Young Expert at North South Consulting - Ethiopia
YEP period 2021 - 2022, batch 22
First position after YEP
Consultant at Fair & Sustainable, Ethiopia
I have different roles, the main one being that of an all-around consultant. My primary activities are to work on assignments on different topics in Ethiopia, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of North South Consulting. I am responsible for research, data analysis, reporting, and instructing research teams on data collection and analysis, either as a lead consultant or in a supportive role. In addition, I work on acquisition and manage the development of, and content for, our website.
Beyond consultancy, I build networks and support the development of partnerships for stakeholders that are identified as socially, economically, and/or environmentally relevant by North South Consulting. For example, I work with an Ethiopian research centre focused on building sustainable energy and agro-food systems. I connect them to relevant stakeholders, support partnership development, and help them acquire funds and organize events.
Finally, I aim to use the insights gained from a number of consultancy assignments for academic publications, building connections between academia and practice. My goal is to base a Ph.D. thesis on these publications, focusing on the role of higher education in Ethiopia.
