YEP Role
I will work as a project coordinator on the Water Operators Partnership (WOP) partnership between the Malian water utility (SOMAGEP SA) and Waternet ( Amsterdam water utility). The partnership (Waterworx) involves several work packages oriented towards strengthening SOMAGEP in leadership, capacity building and improving financial position by developing investment proposals. I will coordinate the different working groups in:
- Improving the water quality and access for populations in Mali
- Obtaining ISO 17025 certification for the laboratory
- Reducing non-revenue water (NRW)
- Drafting and implementing a Water safety and climate resilience plan
- Implement a social inclusion plan and obtain gender certification

Experience before YEP
September 2015 – August 2018: Environmental Systems Engineering Institute, University of Central Florida
The objective of my research was to remove perfluorinated compounds (PFOA, PFOs) from contaminated drinking water. My tasks included:
- Performing water quality analysis for surface and groundwater
- Assembling a bench scale nanofiltration setup
- Developing methods for analytical instruments
May 2017 – Present: African Sky, OHIO USA
I am the environmental health Program director for African Sky, a non-for profit organization based in the United States. I coordinate projects to raise environmental and heath awareness in partner malian high schools. We organized:
- Cleanup days in the city of Bamako, Mali
- 2-day training on innovations in water in a high school in Markala region, Mali
- Mentoring for young girls in the STEM field
