Young Expert at World Water Academy - South Africa
YEP period 2020 - 2021, batch 18
Young Expert I work at the World Water Academy and the Netherlands Water Partnership. For WWA I am the assistant project coordinator for the OKP project: Bridging the water. This project aims to bridge the skill gap between theory and practice in the water sector in South Africa. Through embedding an action learning and co-creating approach, the project leads to improved water management, water services and livelihoods. For NWP, I work as a project officer on international collaboration in the water sector. We are the first entry for anyone seeking Dutch water expertise, and support the Dutch water sector to have more impact internationally. I am based at the provincial department of Water & Sanitation, and partly at the Dutch Consulate in cape Town.
Education: Human Geography and Urban Planning (University of Utrecht)
Experience before YEP
I started working at NWP before my YEP experience, in 2019. I was involved in organizing trade missions and events, and collaboration with South Africa. Furthermore, I have done part of my studies in South Africa (University of the Western Cape), including a thesis on the impact of the water crisis of 2018 on low-income communities.
