YEP Role

Business Developer at Elemental Water Makers B.V.

Bram is business developer and opens the first international office of EWM abroad. His work will mainly involve business development- and field sales activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. In Colombia, we are assessing the market potential of supplying domestic water through solar desalination to the coastal cities of Santa Marta & Cartagena, the islands communities of San Andrés & Providence and the state of La Guajira in the north-east for various users, including resorts, municipalities, industries and communities.

Elemental Water Makers’ mission is to solve global fresh water scarcity by only utilizing the abundant resources of the sea, sun, earth and wind. The scarcity is solved through three different kind of systems and provided to multiple users along islands and coastlines that experience water scarcity, pay high water tariffs or have no access to piped water over all. The range of users entail: resorts, hotels, properties, communities and industries. EWM can provide them with all-purpose water up until potable. We have done and realized more or less 20 projects in 15 countries since the last decade and aim to grow worldwide in order to fulfil the SDG’s and solve fresh water scarcity in a sustainable matter.

  • Sales promoter at Vandebron. Enhancing the energy transition by selling renewable energy contracts, where sun, wind and biomass are generated from the farmers’ premises and sold to the customer directly. (December 2015 – June 2016)
  • Climate-KIC MSc Label and Summer School. Additional curricular program (thesis, internship, courses and guest lectures) focused on sustainable entrepreneurship, added to my MSc. This included a 5-week summer school on climate science, sustainable entrepreneurship and exploring innovations in order to mitigate and adapt to climate change. A business plan competition was an important part of the summer school, where participants developed a business plan on climate innovations. (Summer 2017)
  • WUR-MSc thesis fieldwork | Instituto Superior Politecnico de Gaza, Mozambique. Conducting field data collection as part of my Thesis: “A case study of smallholder irrigators' access strategies in a distributary near Lionde.” I studied the access mechanisms of farmers to land and water in the Chókwè Irrigation System, Mozambique. (September 2017 – January 2018)
