The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water, YEP Agrofood, YEP Energy and YEP Tailor-made, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the water, agrofood and renewable energy sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), the Food & Business Knowledge Platform and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

YEP period 2014 - 2015, batch 2

YEP Role

In the Young Expert Programme I worked at the cooperation between SONEB and Brabant Water. SONEB is the national drinking water company of Benin in West Africa, Brabant Water is the drinking water company that provides the province of Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands with drinking water. In my role as young expert I worked on hydrology and focus especially on the Okpara basin and the ORIO-project that aims to secure drinking water supply for the city of Parakou in 2025.
Click here for more information about my project.

I am an engineer in hydrology and I like to work with basins, dams and drainage. I want to help the project further by doing analyses and calculations with the data. In this current project I would like to use these skills to realize project progress in the ORIO-project and explore more of the whole urban water cycle.

Nationality: Beninese
Education: Engineer Hydrology at University of Abomey Calavi, Benin

My experience is in drinking water projects, drainage projects and calculations of dams and basins. Before I started at SONEB I worked at the ministry of water in Benin and at the ministry of environment in Benin.
