The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water, YEP Agrofood, YEP Energy and YEP Tailor-made, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the water, agrofood and renewable energy sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), the Food & Business Knowledge Platform and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

Young Expert at Resilience B.V. - Mozambique

YEP Role

I am GIS Specialist and Data Manager at Resiliência Moçambique Lda., my tasks include: GIS and Remote Sensing, Data Collection, Analyzing; Reporting; Planning and networking.


Since November 2018 until now, I am working in the management of the IRIPO, communication Platform (Developed by Resiliencia MoçambiqueLda), for the connection between Lychee, Maize and Horticultural producers with the various actors in the production and marketing chain through SMS text. My responsibilities include: planning of the training to the producers contact with partners and producers, Database update (adding or removing producers) and provision of information to farmers via SMS.

Experience before YEP

  • Lecture of Information Geographic System, Remote Sensing and Applied Research Techniques the Wildlife Modules at Instituto Superior Politécnico de Manica;
  • Research assistant at Leopard Project in Gorongosa National Park – Mozambique. I had training in Statistical and Expermental Design, Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System and Plant Biology.  
  • During my career I combined these tools into project results following wildlife population dynamics, mapping them through a combination of survey support, remote sensing and field- as well as air- based control sampling.
