YEP

The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water & YEP Agrofood, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the Water & Agrofood sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform.

YEP Role

I’m currently working for the Livelihood Improvement for Women and Youth (LIWAY) project. It is a five-year project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).  The major objective of the project is to improve the incomes of 200,000 women and youth in Addis Ababa by working on microenterprise, skill development, and labour and growth sector of the economy.

 

My YEP role consists of the following:

  • Identification of the relevant stakeholders (implementing partners) for collaboration with LI-WAY interventions implementation;
  • Development of interventions implementation detailed concept note in close collaboration with the identified implementing partners (IPs);  
  • Providing all the required technical and follow up supports during the implementation of the agreed interventions; 
  • Ensure all the facilitation related to the development of the enterprise market systems (both the start-up and growing/expanding enterprise are in line with the approach of Making Market Works for Poor (M4P)
