April van Delden
YEP period 2017 - 2019, batch 12
Head of Impact.
Experience taught me to understand the impact of cultural and language barriers, and to anticipate on them, as well as being considerate and empathetic, patient and tolerant. Furthermore, direct communications with a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, companies, government and donors, required the ability to adapt quickly and to be diplomatic. I acquired the capability to read between the lines, to listen carefully, be critical, to ask follow-up questions and not to judge people or situations on their first appearances.
Education: MSc International Development Studies at Utrecht University, Bs International Business at Maastricht University

- Master thesis research on contract farming in the sugarcane sector in Mozambique, focus was on the perceived fairness of the contracts and the environmental impact of growing sugarcane.
- Research in Madurai, Southern India on Primary Health Centers, for which I developed a rating system to identify what services and infrastructure were in need of improvement.
