YEP

The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water & YEP Agrofood, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the Water & Agrofood sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform.

Young Expert at Water Forever - Kenya

YEP period 2016 - 2018, batch 10

YEP Role

Carry out WASH activities in Water Forever (MajiMilele) in Kenya and parts of Uganda, especially prepaid water solutions that hence promote the sustainability of both rural and urban water projects.

Experience before YEP

  • Attached at Gauf Engineures Company- a German based company, worked on water treatment works, water supply system and the sewage system in Kenya.
  • Worked at IPA( Innovations for Poverty Action) Kenya, was involved in survey- data collection for sampling in communities, took a lead in water quality analysis in the laboratory.
  • Worked at CABDA(Community Asset Building and Development Action)- Local NGO in Kenya, worked on a WASH programme funded by both SIMAVI and Arqua for All.
