Hydrologist Humanitarian Aid at German Red Cross, Vietnam
YEP Role
Currently I am working as a hydrologist for the Dutch Water Authorities Hunze and Aa’s in Mozambique. In Mozambique I am part of the Unidade de Control de Cheias e Secas (UCCS) at DNGRH in Maputo. The UCCS is a national unit for flood and drought control, where models of river systems are build and used for flood risk warnings and for mapping of flood risks. In this way collection of knowledge and gaining experience in building and using models is facilitated.

Experience before YEP
Internship Dutch Water Authorities Hunze and Aa’s – Veendam, the Netherlands and Beira, Mozambique (Jan 2016 – June 2016). My internship at Dutch Water Authorities Hunze en Aa’s took partly place in Veendam, the Netherlands and partly at ARA Centro in Beira, Mozambique. The internship consisted of building a simple hydraulic model of the river Pungwe in HEC-RAS and to explain the model usage to the employees of ARA Centro.
