Experience before YEP
During my Master’s study (March 2014 - April 2016):
- I served as the Postgraduate Forum secretary and then chairperson in 2014.
- I was also a research assistant for the Water Research Node from 2015 -2016. Much of my research was focused on gaining an understanding of fisheries governance on the Kafue floodplain fishery in Zambia to provide insights into why regulation of access and use of the resource was effective at some fishing camps and not others. I then suggested how effectiveness of governance systems for the fishery might be improved.
- In my spare time, I volunteered to take part in community outreach programs run by the Community Engagement Department at Monash South Africa.
