The main goal of the Young Expert Programmes (YEP), consisting of YEP Water & YEP Agrofood, is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment. They are employed through Dutch organisations in a number of eligible countries. The programmes aim to rejuvenate the Water & Agrofood sectors and ensure the continued availability of expertise for these sectors.

The YEP Programmes are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform.

YEP Role

As a Young Water Expert, I worked with Ghana Netherlands Business and Cultural Council (GNBCC), which coordinates with Daily Business on assignments in Ghana. My focus was on companies in the Water Sector; where I helped in identifying and informing GNBCC, NWP about business opportunities for Dutch-Ghanaian cooperation and partnerships. I also facilitated visits of Dutch Water Sector Organisations to Ghana and helped to introduce Dutch companies to the right potential partners. In addition, I worked on a comprehensive database of the Ghanaian Water sector players to enhance active collaboration and partnership.
