YEP Role
As a Young Expert working for MetaMeta Communications, and hosted by The Water and Environment Center (WEC) at Sana’a University, my work at WEC focused mainly on three projects: (1) Yemen Spate Irrigation Network (YSpN); (2) Strengthening Research capacity in Yemen (NICHE 27); (3) Strengthening and acting as ambassador of TheWaterChannel.tv.
In support to my work within the Young Expert Programme Water (YEP Water) for MetaMeta Communications, I was responsible of performing the tasks listed below:
- Outreach not only within the water sector organizations but also to a larger audience, using mainstream media (national and international)
- Document local practices
- Strengthen farmer to farmer communication
- Write investigative news articles
- Elaborate the Yemen Spate Irrigation Network (YSpN) mailing list
- Link priority themes with possible research topics under WEC
- Support in relevant trainings and in development of Yemen Water Sector partnership
- Support WEC in English education and research programmes
- Maintain and contribute content to www.yemenwater.org
- Act as an ambassador for TheWaterChannel –sourcing material, developing a client base for TheWaterChannel in the Netherlands, supporting themes of TheWaterChannel and writing and editing English news and investigative articles about Yemen’s water issues

Experience before YEP
- International Conferences related to various topics: Environment; Water Issues; Climate Change; Geopolitics; International Conflicts; Internet Governance; Social Innovation and other various topics
- Journalistic work with a focus on Health and Environment reports
- Consultancy Work for both EQLIM Company based in Beirut, and the UN Volunteers Program
- Computer application trainer at the SOUL Organization Center for Development and Training
- Administration, planning and assisting and supporting the various projects at AlKurby Company for Oil fields and Gas Services
- Volunteer Youth Educator while planning for the project and leading the other volunteer youth educators team at SOUL Organization for Development in "Offering Second Chance for At-Risk and Marginalized Youth Project"
- A founding member of the Global Shapers- Sana’a Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum to get youth contribute to their communities by implementing projects
- A former founding member of the Internet Society (ISOC) – Yemen Chapter
- A former member in “Make a Joy Initiative" fighting against cancer and child labor
